Jonathan’s interest in music began at the age of just four when he started piano lessons with his mother. He continued to study under her until he passed his grade 8 exam at the age of fifteen.  In December 2004, Jonathan gained the FRSM diploma in piano performing and in July 2005 he also passed the ALCM diploma in jazz piano.  He now has a busy career as a freelance soloist and a teacher of piano and organ.

As a pianist, Jonathan has performed at venues throughout the UK including  York Minster, Norwich Cathedral, Bradford Cathedral and the Hall for Cornwall.  His  concerts have included a wide range of music from his own arrangements of jazz standards by Gershwin, Scott Joplin and others to major classical works such as Liszt's B minor Sonata and Mozart's Piano Concerto in A K488 and his improvisations.

Jonathan's interest in the organ began at the age of twelve.  He initially taught himself, but went on to have lessons with Gillian Adams.  In July 2007 he gained the LTCL recital diploma with distinction.  Jonathan has performed with international concert organist Carlo Curley in a concert for two organs and has also been the organist at Truro Cathedral for the BBC Radio Cornwall Christmas Carol Concert.  His programmes have included Mendelssohn’s First Organ Sonata, which he has played in a masterclass with Dr Simon Lindley, and a solo organ accompaniment of Handel’s Messiah.

Jonathan is in great demand as an accompanist for both soloists and ensembles.  He regularly plays with violinist Jake Loewendahl, forming a “Strings and Ivories” duo and together they have performed works by Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and more at venues throughout Devon and Cornwall.  He has also performed with soprano Suzanne Manuell and the well-known local East Cornwall Bach Choir.

In April 2010 Jonathan was appointed as the Musical Director for Keltique.  Keltique are an award winning ladies choir who sing a wide repertoire including popular, musicals and jazz.

Jonathan is the musical director at Grace Community Church and also regularly plays at other local evangelical churches.  He is available to give Christian outreach concerts which involve an evening of classical or jazz piano music with a Christian message.  Jonathan is often asked to lead music for Christian conferences and events and has recently led the worship for J John Renewal meetings in Cornwall and for the FIEC church leader's conference in Leicester.

If you would like to book Jonathan for your event, or if you would be interested in studying piano or organ with him, please e-mail him for further details.
