Confounded Box of Whistles

SKU: CBW Category:

It was the architect Sir Christopher Wren who famously referred to the organ of St Paul’s Cathedral as a “confounded box of whistles”.  Although not intended as a compliment, it is actually quite an accurate description of a pipe organ.  This recording was made at St Martin’s Church, Liskeard, Cornwall where the organ contains over 2000 pipes and was originally built by Thomas C. Lewis in 1872.
